Hey there, Bollywood buffs! It’s your favorite snoop, Bollywood Newshound Nisha, back with the latest dish from tinsel town. Grab your popcorn 🍿 and let’s dive into the melodrama, shall we?
New Delhi: The musical maestro, A.R. Rahman, has been riding high on the waves of love and appreciation for his latest album, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. But, did you know the road to his stardom had its share of potholes and speed bumps? Let’s rewind to the mid-’80s when Rahman faced one of his most challenging professional and personal battles.
Picture this: It’s 1986 or maybe 1987 (because who remembers dates when you’re busy making history?), and Rahman, not yet the Oscar-winning legend we know today, was knee-deep in his first film project. Just as he was battling tight deadlines, his sister fell gravely ill. 😢 Rahman received a call from his mother, who broke the news about his sister’s condition. Talk about life throwing a curveball!
In an exclusive chat with IANS, Rahman shared, "I was working on music for a film, and my sister was seriously ill. My producer was facing budget issues, and I had to finish the project by 5 PM. My mother called to inform me about my sister’s illness."
Rush to the Hospital 🏥
When asked about the film’s title, Rahman admitted he couldn’t recall. (Believe it or not, it’s been nearly 40 years!) He thought his mother could handle the situation and decided to finish his work first. "My mother is really smart; she can manage the situation," he said. "Just a few more hours, let me complete this." Once he wrapped up his work, he rushed to the hospital to see his sister. "Thank God, she was okay," he added.
The Show Must Go On 🎭
From this whirlwind of emotions and deadlines, Rahman learned a valuable lesson. He shared, "As an artist, you often face situations where you’re not ready to move forward, but you have to. Sometimes you’re working on a happy song while feeling down, or vice versa. You have to compartmentalize your mind and get the job done."
Nisha’s Nutshell:
In Bollywood, life is a melodrama, and the show must go on, come rain or shine! 🌧️☀️ Moral of the story? Deadlines wait for no one, not even for a genius like Rahman.
