Hey Bollywood Lovers! It’s your favorite Bollywood snoop, Khabree Kiran, here to give you the latest scoop on the biopic mania that’s taken over our filmy duniya! Buckle up for some masaledar khabar! 🌶️🎬
Biopics Galore in 2024!
While some years are all about sequels, 2024 is packed with biopics. In just six months, we’ve had six biopics hit the screens, covering everyone from political figures to sports legends, entrepreneurs, and musical prodigies. And guess what? July is bringing us the seventh biopic of the year—Sarfira! This one’s a remake of Soorarai Pottru, based on G.R. Gopinath’s memoir about making air travel affordable for the aam janta.
Main Atal Hoon
Pankaj Tripathi as Atal Behari Vajpayee? Wah, wah! Though Pankaj bhaiya’s resemblance wasn’t spot-on, his acting was pura paisa vasool. Directed by Ravi Jadhav, the film captures Vajpayee’s journey from student to Prime Minister. Sadly, it was as dry as a desert and collected a mere ₹8.65 crores. Ouch! 😬
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar
Randeep Hooda donned multiple hats—actor, producer, director, and co-writer—for this biopic. But alas, the film was too long and episodic, focusing heavily on Savarkar’s jail time. Despite Randeep’s stellar performance, the film was a dark, dry affair. With a budget of ₹20 crores, it managed to earn ₹25 crores. Bas, “Average” hi keh sakte hain! 😐
Maidaan
Ajay Devgn as the passionate football coach Syed Abdul Rahim was a treat! Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, this biopic was intense and well-made but flopped at the box office, earning ₹54 crores against a higher production budget. Maybe releasing it during Eid wasn’t such a smart move? 🤔
Amar Singh Chamkila
Imtiaz Ali’s biopic on Punjab’s musical sensation Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, was a hit on Netflix! It amassed over 2.4 million views in its opening weekend and has crossed 5 million views globally. Ab yeh hoti hai success! 🎤👏
Srikanth
Rajkummar Rao brought to life the inspiring story of Srikanth Bhola, a visually-challenged entrepreneur. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, this feel-good saga earned over ₹50 crores. Rajkummar Rao, you beauty! 🌟
Chandu Champion
Kabir Khan’s biopic on Paralympic swimmer Murlikant Petkar, starring Kartik Aaryan, is a blend of humor and emotion. Despite a slow start, it has sailed past the ₹30 crore mark. Dekhte hain, aage kya hota hai! 🌊🏊♂️
Kiran’s Gyan:
Bollywood mein biopic banana is like a double-edged sword. Kabhi lagta hai hit, kabhi lagti hai pit. But one thing’s for sure, our stars never fail to keep us entertained, chahe hit ho ya flop!
