Oh Bollywood, tum kabhi sudhroge nahi (you’ll never change)! Here comes Khabree Kiran, ready to spill the beans with her usual dose of sarcasm and wit. Buckle up, dosto, because today’s gossip is hotter than a plate of momos! 🍿
Khel Khel Mein: Akshay Kumar’s Comedy Game is Stronger Than Your WiFi Signal!
Yaar, when was the last time a comedy movie dared to tackle serious themes like infidelity, infertility, and inclusivity without making you cringe? 😲 Usually, Bollywood thinks comedy means vulgar jokes or body shaming. Kya bakwas hai (What nonsense)! But then comes Khel Khel Mein, and suddenly, my dil (heart) is full of hope again!
Akshay Kumar: The Jack of All Trades
So, I walked into the theatre expecting Akshay Kumar to do his usual slapstick comedy routine. After all, this is the same guy who made us laugh and cry in Sarfira earlier this year. But guess what? Khel Khel Mein is no ordinary comedy. As the end credits rolled, I let out a sigh of relief bigger than the one I make when my phone finally connects to WiFi! 📶
The Plot: Phone Pe Plot Twist
The story unfolds in one night—yes, just one! Seven friends decide to party at a wedding and, for fun, make their phones public property for the evening. Akshay plays Rishabh, a plastic surgeon trying to save his second marriage. His wife, Vartika (Vaani Kapoor), is an author struggling with writer’s block. Their friends include Samar (Aditya Seal) and his rich wife, Naina (Pragya Jaiswal), the Harpreet duo (Ammy Virk and Taapsee Pannu), and Kabir (Fardeen Khan). Imagine the chaos when everyone’s secrets are out in the open! Arre Wah, kya plot hai!
Trigger Alert!
But, hold your horses! Just when you think the movie is all fun and games, there’s a slip-up. Mental health and suicide are turned into a gag in the second half. Why, Bollywood, why? 😡 It’s like making biryani and forgetting the saffron!
Akshay’s Dad Goals
Yet, there are moments that deserve a standing ovation. Akshay’s sensitive conversation with his teenage daughter about her relationship is a breath of fresh air. Who knew a comedy movie could be so nuanced?
The Verdict: Must-Watch!
Apart from Akshay, the entire cast shines. Taapsee finally gets to break free from her serious roles and nails it as a social media addict. Ammy Virk is impressive as her husband. Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal are convincing as a couple facing tragedy. And Fardeen Khan—yaar, this is the comeback we needed, not the blink-and-miss role in Heeramandi.
The film delivers what it promises—a chill time! You leave the theatre with a smile, which is all you can ask for. But seriously, Bollywood, enough with the rehashed songs! Diljit Dosanjh’s Do You Know playing during the credits? Kuch naya karo yaar (Do something new, guys).
Kiran’s Gyan:
Bollywood is like that relative who tries to be cool but ends up embarrassing you. But sometimes, just sometimes, they get it right. And when they do, it’s like finding extra fries at the bottom of your McDonald’s bag—unexpected, but oh-so-satisfying!
