Guess what, my fellow Bollywood buffs? We’ve got some piping hot news to spill today! Grab your popcorn because this one’s a doozy. 🍿✨

Anil Kapoor Bags Rs 30 Crore to Host Bigg Boss OTT Season 3

So, the latest buzz from the glitzy corridors of Bollywood is that our very own evergreen star, Anil Kapoor, is all set to host the third season of Bigg Boss OTT. Yes, you read that right! Move over, Salman Khan, because Mr. India is stepping into the reality show limelight. And before you ask, no, this isn’t a plot twist from one of his movies.

A new promo has dropped recently, and let me tell you, Anil Kapoor’s swagger is off the charts. His dynamic persona is bound to bring a fresh flavor to the show, which premieres on June 21st. Mark your calendars, folks!

Ka-Ching! Anil Kapoor’s Whopping Deal

Bollywood’s favorite uncle isn’t doing this for peanuts. No sir, Anil Kapoor has signed a deal worth a staggering Rs 30 crore. For that kind of moolah, he’s going to shoot 16-18 episodes and participate in promotional activities. Oh, and he’ll also be promoting the entire season on his personal social media.

Not too shabby for a man who once lived in a rented room, huh?

Remember 24? The Epic Fail?

Speaking of Anil Kapoor’s TV ventures, let’s not forget his rather… ambitious (and disastrously received) attempt with the Indian remake of 24. Yes, that’s right, the same show where he played a character running around like a headless chicken trying to save the day.

Back in 2010, Kapoor was so smitten with the American series 24 that he decided to buy its rights from Fox Productions for a cool Rs 120 crore. He then sold these rights to Colors for Rs 150 crore, thinking he was about to revolutionize Indian TV. Spoiler alert: He didn’t.

A Flop on Indian Shores

Despite the international success of the American 24 series, Kapoor’s desi version didn’t even make it to the top-20 TRP ratings. Neither the first season in 2013 nor the second in 2016 managed to captivate the Indian audience. The ambitious attempt to change the TV landscape was met with a collective yawn.

After two seasons of lukewarm reception and considerable financial loss, the channel decided to ditch the idea of a third season. Ouch!

Kapil Sharma Could Have Been Jack Bauer?

Here’s a fun tidbit: Anil Kapoor considered Kapil Sharma for a role in 24. Yes, the same Kapil Sharma who makes us laugh our guts out with his comedy shows. During an interview, Anil revealed that Kapil was interested, but his own show Comedy Nights with Kapil took off around the same time. Oh, what could have been!

Kapil Sharma

Nisha’s Nutshell

So, what have we learned today, darlings? If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again… or maybe just switch to reality TV hosting for a cool Rs 30 crore. 😉 Bollywood is a land of infinite surprises and even more infinite second (and third, and fourth) chances.

Until next time, keep your eyes peeled and your popcorn ready! 🎬🍿
