Anurag Kashyap admits to turning on the waterworks for a solid 10 days at Aaliyah’s wedding: Even Bollywood directors have feelings!

In the grand circus that is Bollywood, emotions often run high, but when Anurag Kashyap, the maestro of emotional rollercoasters, finds himself overwhelmed, you know it’s a spectacle worth noting. So, grab your popcorn as we dive into the emotional saga of Anurag Kashyap at his daughter Aaliyah’s wedding! 🎥🍿

Guess what, folks? Our beloved Anurag Kashyap, usually the cool cucumber of the Bollywood salad, turned into a puddle of tears at his daughter Aaliyah’s wedding. Yes, the man who gave us gritty tales like Gangs of Wasseypur was caught in a whirlwind of emotions, and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t be? Watching your daughter tie the knot can be more overwhelming than a climax in a high-octane thriller.

In a candid chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Anurag revealed that he was so moved by the varmala ceremony and the havan that he almost made a dramatic exit before the reception even began. I mean, can you blame him? Weddings can be more dramatic than a daily soap! Thankfully, someone held him back with a timely intervention, taking him for a long walk to calm those cinematic nerves. 😅

The wedding was not just a family affair but a celebrity filled extravaganza with the who’s who of Bollywood gracing the occasion. From Manoj Bajpayee to Sobhita Dhulipala and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it was a glittering assembly. I bet the paparazzi had a field day!

But wait, there’s more! Anurag shared that he cried for 10 straight days! Yes, you heard it right. TEN DAYS! It’s like his own private saga of Dev.D playing on repeat. And just like any good Bollywood story, this emotional journey led him to quit drinking and emerge cleansed, or as he calls it, a catharsis.

Switching gears, Anurag recently dipped his toes into acting with the Malayalam film Rifle Club. Playing a father to rapper Hanumankind, Anurag seems to be exploring new horizons, alongside a stellar cast including Dileesh Pothan and Vani Viswanath.

His directorial venture Kennedy also made waves, premiering at prestigious festivals including Cannes. Starring Sunny Leone, it’s making international audiences sit up and take notice. Quite the feat for our emotional director!

Now, who would’ve thought that the man who vowed never to cast himself would surprise us all with roles in web series Bad Cop and the Tamil thriller Maharaja in 2024? Anurag, you sneaky genius!

Nisha’s Nutshell: In the land of Bollywood, where drama is queen and emotions king, even the directors become actors in their own emotional scripts. Moral of the story? Keep tissues handy, you never know when life might just hand you a 10-day crying fest! 💧🎬
