Anurag Kashyap claps back at Pankaj Jha’s ‘spineless’ comment over casting Pankaj Tripathi in Gangs of Wasseypur

Welcome to another spicy scoop from yours truly, Bollywood Newshound Nisha! Prepare for a dose of drama, sarcasm, and some good ol’ Bollywood masala. 🍿

Anurag Kashyap Claps Back at Pankaj Jha’s ‘Spineless’ Jab

Hold onto your popcorn, folks! The ever-candid Anurag Kashyap finds himself amidst another controversy, courtesy of Pankaj Jha’s recent outburst. Apparently, Jha is fuming because Kashyap replaced him with Pankaj Tripathi for the role of Sultan in the iconic Gangs of Wasseypur. Sounds like someone’s holding a grudge, eh? 😏

The Allegations and the Clapback

Pankaj Jha didn’t mince words, calling Kashyap "spineless" for not sticking to his original casting promise. Kashyap, being his unfiltered self, responded in an interview with India Today, “I don’t remember what exactly happened. But we were shooting for The Girl in Yellow Boots and he had moved to Osho in Pune to paint. We were supposed to start shooting for Gangs of Wasseypur and he (Pankaj Jha) was not available. We were on a tight budget and could not wait for him. We made the film in a very different condition and budget. Now, he may be thinking after 20 years, he could have become Pankaj Tripathi.”

Ouch! That’s a burn if I’ve ever seen one. 🔥

The Unreachable Star

Kashyap didn’t stop there. He went on to say, “I have worked with him, and he has actually been my go-to actor. We worked in Gulaal and Black Friday. I would love to work with him again, but the fact is, he is not accessible at all.”

So, essentially, Jha’s inaccessibility cost him the role of a lifetime. Moral of the story: Always be available when Bollywood calls, folks. 📞

Who is Anurag Kashyap, Anyway?

For those living under a rock, Anurag Kashyap made his directorial debut with Paanch, which never saw the light of day. His second film, Black Friday, also faced release delays due to its controversial content. But Kashyap finally struck gold with hits like Gulaal, Dev D, and the Gangs of Wasseypur series. His crime thriller series Sacred Games reached global fame on Netflix, proving that controversy is indeed his middle name. 😉

And for those who can’t get enough of him, Kashyap will next be seen playing villains in the web show Bad Cop and Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja. Also, his directorial venture Kennedy recently wowed audiences at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Nisha’s Nutshell

In Bollywood, timing is everything. One minute you’re painting in Pune, the next you’re watching someone else steal your thunder on the big screen. 🎬✨
