Lilliput’s Tryst with Big B: "Main Manhoos Hoon!"

MM Faruqui, better known as Lilliput, has graced the silver screen for over four decades. From working with Bollywood’s biggies to thinking he’s a bad luck charm for Amitabh Bachchan, this man’s journey is full of twists and turns! 🌀

So, imagine this: Lilliput, ek din Subhash Ghai ke office mein. Ab, bhai, paisa nahi tha Bandra tak travel karne ka, toh a friend’s car became his savior. Subhash ji then drops a bomb: "Main ek film bana raha hoon, Sherbahadur, aur usmein Amitabh Bachchan hero honge aur tum villain." Sounds like a dream, right? But hold your horses!

Subhash Ghai suggested Lilliput to drop all his ongoing projects like Saagar, Aamir Aadmi, Shararat, to keep his on-screen image fresh for Sherbahadur. But fate had other plans. "Meri kya aukat thi? How could I ask those who had shot the film not to release? Jutta dhilayega kya?" Lilliput said, recalling his predicament. And guess what? The film got shelved because of Big B’s health issues. Talk about bad timing!

And it didn’t stop there. Another film titled Aashiyana with Amitabh Bachchan also got shelved. Lilliput, in his humorous style, told Amit ji, "Don’t try to act with me!" 😂

Years later, Shaad Ali approached him for Bunty Aur Babli. And guess what? Lilliput told him, "Main manhoos hoon. Amit ji ke saath meri film banti nahin hai, tumhari bhi film nahin banegi." But Shaad Ali, being the superstitious rebel he is, didn’t believe in such nonsense and cast him anyway.
