Hello there, Bollywood aficionados! It’s your sardonic, snarky, side-splittingly funny Bollywood Newshound Nisha, back with another dose of your much-needed filmy gossip. Today’s delicious tidbit revolves around the industry’s British-Indian belle, Banita Sandhu, who’s been making waves in both Bollywood and Hollywood. Oh, don’t you just love it when our desi stars spread their wings, flying across the seven seas to conquer foreign shores?
Six years ago, our very own Banita Sandhu graced Bollywood with her presence, and boy, has she been on a roll since then! She stepped onto the scene with the critically acclaimed film ‘October’ in 2018, and since then, this British nugget of talent has been busy adding more jewels to her crown, both in India and abroad.
Recently, she was spotted in the British series ‘Bridgerton’, where she played the role of Miss Malhotra. The first part of the series hit the screens on May 16, 2024, with the second part scheduled for a June 13, 2024 release.
In a candid chat with your favourite Bollywood Newshound, Banita revealed that she scored this role during a vacation! This girl shot a self-tape, and bam! She landed the role in just two days. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! She had to pack her vacation gear pronto and fly back to London to start the costume trials.
Although she hadn’t read the Bridgerton books, she was familiar with the series and was thrilled to meet the author, Julia Quinn. When asked about her experience working on the show, she swooned over the grand scale of production and the intricate detailing that went into the costumes, makeup, and set design.
In other news, Netflix just dropped the trailer for the second half of Season 3, teasing a possible love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. But of course, Lady Whistledown’s secret identity still lurks in the shadows, adding a dash of scandal to the mix.
Coming back to our starlet, Banita is all set to make her Telugu debut with Adivi Sesh’s ‘Goodachari 2’. Can’t wait to see what she brings to the table next!
And now, for my trademark lopsided moral of the story – Bollywood is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. One minute you’re sipping margaritas on a beach, and the next, you’re waltzing in a ball gown on a grand British set. So, keep your eyes peeled and your self-tape ready, because you never know when opportunity will come knocking!
Till next time, this is Bollywood Newshound Nisha, signing off with a wink and a grin. Stay filmy, folks!
