Bengali Actress Accuses Renowned Malayalam Filmmaker Ranjith of ‘Misbehaviour’ | Bollywood Buzz

So, a Bengali actress, Sreelekha Mitra, has dropped a bombshell accusation of misbehaviour against the renowned Malayalam filmmaker, Ranjith. Haan haan, wahi Ranjith who’s the chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy. This revelation has added more masala to the already sizzling political scene in Kerala, where the Pinarayi Vijayan government is under fire for its lukewarm response to the Justice Hema Committee report, which highlighted harassment in the Malayalam cinema industry.

Sreelekha spilled the beans, saying, “The person concerned is a big name in Malayalam film industry and a national award-winning director. I went to his residence to discuss an upcoming film project and I did not like his behaviour. He made certain advances subtly and I felt uncomfortable while we were discussing the script." 😳

Now, Ranjith baba, of course, denied everything and flipped the script by claiming he’s the "real victim". Oh, drama queen much? 🙄

Adding to the chaos, the CPI and other opposition parties are demanding a thorough probe into Sreelekha’s allegations. CPI national leader Annie Raja said, “The actress has raised the allegation and named the accused person also. So, the government should carry out a probe into it and action should be taken based on that. When such a probe is being carried out, he should be kept away from the position of Academy chairman."

Sreelekha, being the braveheart she is, stood her ground and added, “I immediately communicated my decision not to be part of the project any more, left the place and came back to Kolkata the next day.” 🙌

The lady also mentioned that while she hasn’t faced anything similar in the Bengali cinema industry, she hopes that any women who have gone through such experiences muster the courage to speak out. “Women are speaking out with greater vigour and conviction against any form of misconduct now,” she added. Aur yeh toh hona hi tha!

In Kerala, demands for Ranjith to step down are echoing louder. Ministers like Saji Cheriyan and Veena George assured that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven. Saji Cheriyan even went to the extent of suggesting that Sreelekha file an official complaint for the law to take its course.

The BJP state chief K Surendran was not one to hold back either, calling for both Cheriyan and Ranjith to step down. He stated, “Ranjith has no moral right to continue in the position. A victim herself has come up with the complaint. She raised the allegation openly….before the public society.”
