Arre bhai, Bollywood mein drama kabhi khatam nahi hota, aur aaj ka episode laaya hai kuch taaza masala! Biplab Goswami, the man behind the story of the upcoming flick Laapataa Ladies (2024), is in quite a tiff. Plagiarism ka ilzaam laga hai uske kaam par, and he’s not having any of it! He’s gone to Instagram and X, loudly proclaiming, “Yeh sab bakwas hai!”
Picture this, dosto: Biplab’s Laapataa Ladies is being compared with Fabrice Bracq’s Burqa City. Social media ki janta is having a field day with the similarities. Lo and behold, Fabrice claims he penned his short film in 2017 and was all set by 2019, whereas Biplab says, “Maine toh 2014 mein hi apni kahani register kar li thi!” Talk about a filmi tussle! 🎥💥
Biplab was left scratching his head, wondering, "Arre, poocha toh hota mujhse bhi!" when the whole world was comparing the two films. He’s got all his paperwork in order from the Screenwriters Association, mind you. But alas, no one bothered to ask his side of the story until it was too late.
The drama doesn’t stop here! Yeh pehli baar nahi hai that Laapataa Ladies has faced such allegations. Remember Ananth Mahadevan? Haan, wahi actor-filmmaker who pointed out that the film bore a striking resemblance to his 1999 venture Ghoonghat Ke Pat Khol. Biplab, with all his seeti-maar confidence, says, “Meri kahani toh meri hi hai, bhai. Ananth ji se koi lena dena nahi.”
And as for Fabrice, humne bhi unko message bheja for his side of the story, but alas, no reply came our way. Maybe he’s too busy planning his next move in this filmi chess game.

Fabrice, in an interview with IFP, expressed his shock and dismay, saying, “The pitch of Laapataa Ladies was eerily similar to my short film’s. From the naive husband losing his wife to the corrupt cop scene, it was all déjà vu for me!” But Biplab’s got receipts too, as the same scenes are there in his 2014 registered script. Oh yeh Bollywood, kabhi nahi sudhrega! 😅
