It seems the much-anticipated sequel to ‘It Ends With Us’ is hitting some serious roadblocks, mainly due to an alleged fallout between its lead stars and co-producers, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The original flick raked in over $200 million worldwide, so naturally, expectations are sky-high for the follow-up. But word on the street (and by street, I mean my highly reliable sources) is that Lively and Baldoni’s strained relationship might just throw a wrench in the works. 🙄
According to our insiders, the drama began when Lively and Baldoni, who were the dynamic duo behind the first film’s success, didn’t bother showing up at each other’s promotional events. Ah, the sweet scent of professional estrangement! This has, of course, led to endless speculation about whether they can bury the hatchet (and not in each other’s backs) for the sequel.
The sequel, based on Colleen Hoover’s 2022 novel ‘It Starts With Us’, aims to continue the story right where we left off. But despite having the script and source material ready, production is in jeopardy. Baldoni, who directed the first movie and owns the adaptation rights via his company Wayfarer Studios, has hinted he might step down from directing the sequel. He even went on record with Entertainment Tonight saying, “I think there are better people for that. I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct.” Translation: “I’m done with this circus.”
Oh, but it gets juicier! Lively reportedly demanded her own edit of the film, leading to a final cut that didn’t quite jive with Baldoni’s vision. On top of that, she’s allegedly made some serious accusations against him, including claims of inappropriate behavior and undermining his contributions. Looks like this drama isn’t just confined to the script!
And just when you think you’ve heard it all, enter Ryan Reynolds, Lively’s hubby, who apparently contributed to a pivotal scene in the film. This move has supposedly added more tension between Lively and Baldoni. Because why not, right? 🤷♀️
As the production team scratches their heads, wondering how to move forward, fans and industry insiders are left on tenterhooks.
