Bollywood Bigwigs Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das to Kickstart 2024 IFFM with ‘My Melbourne’ Anthology

Arre bhaiyo aur behno, hold onto your popcorn because Khabree Kiran is back with the juiciest scoop from Bollywood! 🍿✨ Yes, you heard it right! The upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 is all set to kick off with a bang, and guess what’s opening it? An anthology film called "My Melbourne" featuring shorts from none other than Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das! Kya baat hai! 💃🕺

Picture this: The festival will be running from August 15 to 25, and it’s going to be a full-on Bollywood dhamaka with a mix of movies that capture the vibrant essence of Indian cinema. Asli mazaa tab aayega jab "My Melbourne" graces the screen. This Indo-Australian collaboration is backed by the Victorian government’s Vic Screen and Screen Australia. It sounds fancy, na?

What’s the deal with "My Melbourne," you ask? Well, it’s inspired by true incidents and takes a deep dive into the diverse lives of Melbourne’s residents, tackling themes like race, gender, sexuality, and disability. The shorts include "Emma" by Rima Das, "Jules" by Imtiaz Ali, "Nandini" by Onir, and "Setara" by Kabir Khan. Matlab, full paisa vasool!

Rima Das chimes in on her film "Emma," saying it’s all about disability and keeping it "authentic and real." Arre waah, she even roped in members of the deaf community to make it super genuine. "I hope it initiates dialogue about inclusivity," she says. Suno, suno, yeh bahut zaroori baat hai!

Imtiaz Ali had his own emotional roller coaster while making "Jules." He was moved by the story of two very different yet displaced women in Melbourne. "I could share my insights and test my ideas freely with the different creative voices," he mentioned. Bhai, sounds like a creative jugalbandi!

Onir is all about celebrating what Melbourne stands for in his film "Nandini." "A space that embraces diversity and celebrates inclusion," he adds. Oh bhai, seems like Melbourne is the perfect stage for his film on migrant experiences. Sabko mil ke jeena yahin se seekhna chahiye!

Kabir Khan brings us "Setara," a tale of a girl who escapes from Afghanistan to Melbourne and finds solace in cricket. "True stories portraying the triumph of the human spirit always have a special appeal for me," Kabir says. Arre wah, cricket aur Bollywood ka perfect combo!

Yeh toh bas trailer tha doston, picture abhi baaki hai! Stay tuned for more masala and drama as we get closer to IFFM 2024.

Kiran’s Gyan: Bollywood is like a samosa – crispy on the outside, full of surprises on the inside. Kabhi race, kabhi gender, kabhi cricket – sab kuch milega! So, next time you watch a film, remember, andar ka masala hi asli mazaa deta hai! 🎬✨
