Arey yaar, kya zamana aa gaya hai! Ek taraf, we have our desi Hercules, Vinesh Phogat, who was about to make history at the Paris Olympics 2024, and then BAM! She’s disqualified for being “overweight.” I mean, seriously? Just 100 grams? That’s like one ladoo! Anyway, our Bollywood brigade couldn’t keep calm and had to show their support. First up, Alia Bhatt with her heartfelt Insta story. Alia beti, you are a sweetheart! She wrote, “Vinesh Phogat, you are an inspiration to the entire nation. Nothing can take away your resilience, courage, and the hardships you’ve been through to create history! Today you must be heartbroken, and we are heartbroken with you. But woman, you are gold- you are iron and you are steel! Nothing can take that away from you! A champion for the ages! There is no one like you.”

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar took to Instagram to share a picture of Vinesh with a caption, “Dear @vineshphogat .. One can only try and imagine how devastated you must be but still not fully understand. Heartbroken for you that the quest ended like this. But please know that we are all very proud of you and all you have done for the sport. You will always be a champion and an inspiration to millions. Keep your chin up.”
Zoya Akhtar chimed in with, “Champion ♥️ @vineshphogat You are gold! What you have achieved is beyond medals. So proud. So inspired.” And of course, Dia Mirza had to comment “Absolutely.”

Our hunk Vicky Kaushal also shared his two cents. He posted a story with the words, “A winner beyond medals! (Indian flag and red heart emoticons).” Arre Vicky, you always know how to hit the right notes, na?
Taapsee Pannu couldn’t stay behind. She posted, “This is heartbreaking but honestly this woman has already made her mark beyond gold by now!” And Sonakshi Sinha added her bit, “Unbelievable! I cannot imagine how you are feeling now and don’t know what to say except you were, are and will always be a champion.”
Now, let’s get to the juicy part, shall we? Vinesh Phogat was found 100-150 grams over the permissible limit and was disqualified. Can you believe it? She was two kilograms above her weight at night and did everything she could to meet the criteria – jogging, skipping, cycling – you name it! Poor girl even fainted due to dehydration and is now hospitalized. Arey bhai, kya yaar!
