The mogul of the silver screen, Ramoji Rao, has taken his final bow. The industrialist and media baron, who gave us the marvel that is Ramoji Film City, succumbed to a prolonged illness in the wee hours of June 8. đ
Rumor has it that Rao was whisked away to Star Hospital in Hyderabad on June 5, complaining of breathing difficulties and high blood pressure. But alas, the business titanâs health took a turn for the worse due to some complications and he breathed his last at the Star Hospital.
Oh, and did you know he was a cancer survivor too? He bravely fought off colon cancer in the past. đ±
As you can imagine, the film fraternity has been pouring their hearts out on social media, expressing their grief and condolences.
Allu Arjun, for instance, was deeply saddened by Raoâs passing and said, "I feel his aura every time I shoot at #RFC. His unparalleled contributions to the media, cinema, and many other industries will never be forgotten."
Kajal Aggarwal too shared her condolences, saying, "His legacy will continue to inspire many. May his soul rest in peace".
And letâs not forget Ram Gopal Varma who tweeted, "Ramoji Raoâs death is unbelievable because he from an individual metamorphosed into an institution".
Rao leaves behind his wife, Rama Devi, and son, Kiran. Not just a film city, Rao owned a media empire including Eenadu Telugu Daily, ETV network channels, and a production house named Usha Kiran Movies. He even dipped his toes into other industries like Chit Funds, Food and Beverages, Apparels, and Film Distribution. Now thatâs what you call a kingpin! đ
