Burqa City Director Left ‘Flabbergasted’ by Eerie Resemblance to Laapataa Ladies, Seeks Dialogue with Filmmakers | Bollywood

Hello, Bollywood buffs! Today, we’re diving into a tale as spicy as your favorite masala movie. So, grab your popcorn and settle in for some filmi gossip with your very own Khabree Kiran! 🎬✨

The Great ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Drama: A Plagiarism Plot Twist?

Arre, kya scene hai, bhai? Director Fabrice Bracq of ‘Burqa City’ fame is shocked and saddened over the uncanny similarities between his short film and Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Picture this: a naive, loving husband, a violent despot of a husband, corrupt cops, and a mysterious veiled woman. Sounds familiar? Well, it seems these plot points have danced their way from ‘Burqa City’ into ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Fabrice is so upset that he’s itching to have a chai pe charcha with the film’s creators. 📽️

Fabrice spilled the beans (or should I say, chai?) that his short film was penned in 2017, shot in 2018, and made its festival debut in 2019. It even made an appearance at festivals in Kolkata and Auroville in 2020. Talk about a cinematic world tour! But now, with ‘Laapataa Ladies’ hitting it big in India and even getting Oscar buzz, Fabrice is left wondering if his dream of making ‘Burqa City’ a feature film has been turned into an impossible Bollywood dream sequence.

The Writer’s Defense: Biplab Goswami Speaks Out

Enter Biplab Goswami, the pen behind ‘Laapataa Ladies’, who has come out all guns blazing to rubbish these plagiarism claims. Bhai saab, he’s got receipts! The script was registered with the Screenwriters Association in 2014, and the feature-length version followed in 2018 under the title ‘Two Brides’. Biplab insists these allegations are nothing more than a plot twist that undermines his and his team’s mehnat.

Directed by the talented Kiran Rao and backed by producer Aamir Khan, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan. With such a star filled lineup, it’s no wonder the film’s making waves. But as they say in Bollywood, har kahani mein ek villain hota hai. In this case, it’s the plagiarism accusations.

Kiran’s Gyan: Bollywood Ka Drama Kabhi Khatam Nahi Hota

Bollywood without drama is like a samosa without aloo — bas namak ki kami hai toh add some salt and enjoy the show! Whether it’s a blockbuster hit or a plagiarism spat, the show must go on, doston!

Stay tuned for more gossip and gupshup from your favorite Bollywood insider, Khabree Kiran!
