Esha Deol: Daddy Dharmendra Wanted Shaadi, But She Chose Spotlight!

‘Daddy Wanted Dulhan, But I Wanted Dhoom-Dhadaka!’
Can you imagine? Dharmendra, our very own He-Man of Bollywood, wanted beti Esha to tie the knot at the tender age of 18! Like, seriously? 😲 Esha spilled the beans on how papa dear was all about shaadi-shuda life for her instead of the glitz and glamour of Bollywood. And why wouldn’t he be? Asli Punjabi munda jo hain!
Esha shared, "He didn’t want me to enter films. He was rightfully orthodox because he was a Punjabi, so he wanted me to get married and settle down at 18 because that was his conditioning, he’s coming from there. The women in his family are brought up that way. But my upbringing was very different in my house, seeing my mom act in films and her dance gave me a direction. It was ingrained inside me that I wanted to do something."
Full marks to Esha for standing her ground, though! Convincing Dharmendra to let her chase her dreams wasn’t a cakewalk. It took ages for her to persuade him. But kya karein, beti Hema Malini jaisi ho toh kuch toh genes mein drama aayega! 😉
Esha’s Filmy Journey
Esha Deol, for those jo bhool gaye, took a break from acting after her 2011 film "Tell Me O Kkhuda". She tied the knot with Bharat Takhtani in 2012. The couple welcomed two adorable daughters, Radhya and Miraya, in 2017 and 2019. But, oh ho, filmy life mein twists and turns toh banta hai! The duo announced their separation earlier this year in February.
Lekin, don’t count Esha out just yet! She’s making a smashing comeback with films titled "Main" and "Hero Herroine". Ab dekhte hain, Esha ka comeback kya dhamaka karta hai!
