Arre bhai, Bollywood mein hungama mach gaya hai! Manisha Koirala, our very own classic diva, is back in the limelight, thanks to her stellar performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. But hold on, there’s some juicy gossip too!
So, Manisha recently spilled some chai on why she hasn’t worked with the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, post their 1998 blockbuster Dil Se.. Oh ho, lagta hai kuch toh gadbad hai!
Manisha, in a candid chat with Zoom, hinted that the decision to not work together again might just be SRK’s call. She said, "You will have to ask him. In this industry, the heroes decide whom they want to work with, not the heroines." Arre, kya baat hai! A subtle taana if you ask me! 😏
But our lady is all grace, acknowledging that Dil Se.. remains one of her most cherished projects. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, also starred Preity Zinta and was a melodious hit. Remember the intense love story amidst terrorism? Ah, nostalgia!
In another interview with The Hindu earlier this year, Manisha touched upon the state of women-centric films in Bollywood. She pointed out that while we do have gems like Umrao Jaan, there’s still a significant lack of space for such works. She praised the box office success of Crew, but emphasized the need for more female-centric narratives. Kudos to her for speaking out! 👏
In Heeramandi, Manisha played the cunning brothel owner, Mallika Jaan, set in the pre-Independence era. The show has been a hit, and fans are already dreaming of a Manisha-SRK reunion on screen. Kya pata, Bollywood mein kuch bhi ho sakta hai!
