Sanjay Leela Bhansali, that quintessential perfectionist behind cinematic masterpieces, has set the digital world ablaze with his Netflix debut, ‘Heeramandi.’ The star filled period drama featuring Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, and others has been nothing short of a blockbuster. But wait, Jason Shah, who played Alastair Cartwright, has thrown a spanner in the works with his bombshell claims! 👀
Jason, in his recent Inside The Mind With Rushabh podcast appearance, spilled the beans big time. According to him, SLB was so bogged down with his web series debut that he handed over the directorial reins to his team for most scenes. Except, of course, for those featuring the A-listers. Hai ram!
Yaad hai, Jason had previously hinted at the not-so-rosy atmosphere on the sets of ‘Heeramandi.’ He described the environment as lacking "kindness" and being "stressful." Sounds like a typical day in the life of a Bollywood set, na? 🤷♀️
Jason elaborated, "Web series and films are poles apart. Web series are like those endless saas-bahu sagas, so many episodes to shoot! It took him two-and-a-half years, bhai! And honestly, he wasn’t directing much. I had other directors with me. Mera character could’ve had more depth, more color." Arre beta, you should have spoken up! Oh wait, you didn’t want to be the "problem-maker." Wah re wah!
So, SLB fans are left wondering, "Sanjay bhai, kya bolenge aap?" Meanwhile, the buzz around ‘Heeramandi’ Season 2 is already making waves. With the tawaifs moving from Lahore to the Kolkata and Mumbai film industry, we won’t see Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari again. Bye-bye, darlings!
