Dipika Chikhlia’s Take on Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayan’: She Thinks It’s a Tangled Mess!

Greetings, Bollywood devotees! It’s your favourite Bollywood sleuth, Newshound Nisha, here with another scoop of the day!

Let’s get straight to it, shall we? Our beloved Dipika Chikhlia, who charmed an entire generation with her ethereal portrayal of Goddess Sita in the nostalgic Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, has popped the lid on her thoughts about the upcoming film based on the same epic. And let me tell you, she’s not exactly throwing rose petals at the idea.

In a tête-à-tête with India Today, Dipika, with a pinch of disillusionment, voiced her concern over the repetitive screen adaptations of Ramayan. “People are making a mess of it,” she bemoaned, expressing her disappointment over the constant attempts to reinvent the epic with new stories, angles, and looks. She singled out Kriti Sanon’s pink satin saree in ‘Adipurush’ and Saif Ali Khan’s appearance as examples of the ‘creative liberties’ taken. According to her, such changes are spoiling the impact of what Ramayan is all about.

Further sharpening her critique, Dipika argued that religious texts should be left untouched, and there are countless other narratives to delve into. “Speak about a lot of freedom fighters. There’s so much that one can talk about; unsung heroes who were valiant in history for freedom. Why only Ramayan?” she questioned.

Meanwhile, the rumour mill is buzzing with news about Nitesh Tiwari’s film ‘Ramayan’ featuring the dashing Ranbir Kapoor and the talented Sai Pallavi. Ever since the announcement, this film has been serving as fodder for the headline-hungry media. We can expect to see it hitting the big screens in October 2027.

Well, there you have it folks, a clear message from our very own Dipika Chikhlia. Maybe it’s high time Bollywood took a breather from the epics and started digging into the treasure trove of other compelling stories that our rich history offers. And now for the moral of the story, drumroll, please…

Just like in our diets, variety is the spice of Bollywood too. Too much of one thing can leave a bitter taste, and nobody wants that, right? Until next time, this is your Bollywood Newshound Nisha, signing off with a wag and a woof.
