Alright, folks! Your Bollywood detective Nisha is back with some fresh, spicy news, and oh boy, is it getting hot in here or is it just our Sita Ji’s fiery opinions? 😏🔥
Our beloved Dipika Chikhlia, who etched her name in the sand of time with her divine portrayal of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, has recently expressed her displeasure with the current renditions of Ramayana. According to her, they are not just ‘making a mess of it’, they’re practically setting it on fire and dancing around it! 🔥💃
She recently shared her views on the film ‘Adipurush’, which also draws inspiration from the same epic, and she was not holding back! 🎯
In an interview with India Today, she voiced her concerns about the influence of such misleading portrayals on the young minds. She lamented, "Every time what happens is, a child, who is five years old or eight years old who has watched ‘Adipurush’ with his parents – when he grows up, his image will be all about what was there in ‘Adipurush’. That is damaging your future. That bothers me, more than anything else."
She then went on to slam the portrayal of Ravan in ‘Adipurush’ stating, "Ravana was a Brahmin. He was a Shiv bhakt. There were so many good qualities in him. He wasn’t just a villain. The only bad thing that he did was that he abducted somebody’s wife. Otherwise, he was a vidwan (a scholar). Portraying him as a roadside thug was not in good taste.”
‘Adipurush’, despite several delays, finally saw the light of day in June 2023, and boy did it face a lot of flak for its VFX and dialogues!
Can’t wait for the day when Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayan’ comes out. Will it be another feather in the cap for Bollywood or a thorn in the side? Only time can tell.🤷♀️
Nisha’s Nutshell:
In the grand theatre of Bollywood, where the script is as unpredictable as the stock market, we must remember that a little bit of healthy criticism goes a long way. After all, the pen is mightier than the sword, and sometimes, it can even be mightier than a mace-wielding deity! 🖋️🗡️
So here’s to hoping that our dear filmmakers learn a thing or two from Dipika Ji’s words of wisdom. And remember, kids, when in doubt, always ask – "What would Sita Ji do?" 😂🙏
