Picture this: the descendants of Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke are up in arms! Why, you ask? Well, they’re not too thrilled about how their ancestors are portrayed in the film. The movie, in all its grandeur, depicts these Maratha warriors as betrayers who cozied up with Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Arre bhai, phir kya tha! The Shirkes are threatening a ₹100 crore lawsuit, claiming this portrayal is nothing short of a ‘creative crime’ against their ancestry. 😱
Director Laxman Utekar’s Diplomatic Dance! 🎬
After the release, Laxmikant Raje Shirke, a 13th-generation descendant, slammed the movie for its historical ‘blunders’. He’s not mincing words, calling it a “blatant misinterpretation.” The Shirke clan sent a stern legal notice demanding corrections, or else it’s defamation central for Utekar and his team!
Trying to cool down the tempers, director Laxman Utekar has been on an apology spree, reaching out to Bhushan Shirke with a heartfelt ‘Maafi’. He insists the film didn’t actually name-drop their surname or village. Arre, sirf naam liya hai, kaunsa bada toofan macha diya!
Despite his apologies, the Shirke family isn’t backing down. They’ve threatened statewide protests if their demands aren’t met. Bhai, yeh toh drama se bhara hua hai!
