Mahabharata, the epic saga penned by Ved Vyasa, is as integral to our culture as chai is to a rainy day. We’ve all been glued to our screens watching the 1988 TV series on Doordarshan, hain na? Aise hi, this grand tale has inspired many to dream big, including Bollywood’s own actor Aamir Khan and blockbuster director S.S. Rajamouli. Both of these bigwigs had grand visions to bring this epic to life on the big screen.

But, haaye re! Rajamouli sir’s dream never really left the drawing board. Meanwhile, our Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, planned a mind-boggling adaptation with a budget that could buy you a small island—INR 1000 crore! Alas, it was all sapne, no sachai, and the project stayed in la-la land.

Enter Lingusamy, a director who’s been having a bit of a dry spell, yaar. He’s announced his own Mahabharata project, and he’s not playing small. With an estimated budget of INR 700 crore, this ambitious two-part series is Lingusamy’s shot at glory. But hold your horses, folks! Don’t expect any shooting just yet. Extensive pre-production work is needed before they even think about rolling cameras.
