But the real MVP here is Sonora Smart Dodd from Spokane, Washington. This queen wanted to honor her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War soldier who single-handedly raised six kids after his wife passed away. 🎖️
Thanks to Sonora’s relentless efforts, the first Father’s Day happened on June 19, 1910, in Spokane. Fast forward to 1972, and voilà! President Richard Nixon made it official as a national holiday.
