Heard the one about Hrithik Roshan being told ‘Big Mistake!’ for a film that turned out to be a blockbuster?

Welcome back, Bollywood aficionados! This is your go-to snoop, Bollywood Newshound Nisha, bringing you the spicy tidbits and juicy deets from the glitzy world of Hindi cinema! Buckle up, because today’s gossip is gonna blow your mind! 🌟

Delhi Calling! The year was 2011, and our very own Greek God, Hrithik Roshan, delivered one of his iconic performances in "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" (ZNMD for us lazy typists). Co-starring the ever-quirky Farhan Akhtar and the broody Abhay Deol, this movie about three amigos on a Spanish adventure was a runaway hit. But hold onto your popcorn, because Hrithik almost didn’t sign on the dotted line! 😱

Flashback to 2021—our hunky hero Hrithik spilled the beans in an interview. Apparently, Daddy Roshan’s buddies were all like, “Dude, are you sure about this? You’re gonna regret it.” Yup, they actually thought Hrithik was making the biggest blunder of his career. Can you imagine? 🙄

Hrithik himself recounted, “I remember signing this film and my dad’s friends were all up in arms. They thought I was making a colossal mistake since I wasn’t the ‘main hero.’ It wasn’t a typical film where I was the singular star, and Farhan-Abhay were just sidekicks.”

But guess what? Our boy Hrithik went, “Status, schmatatus! I believe in this story, and I’m doing it!” And thank the Bollywood gods he did. ZNMD turned out to be a massive hit, silencing all those naysayers. 💥

"I Trusted the Story"
Hrithik went on to share, “Back then, the rule was to maintain your star status. This film was the opposite of that. But it empowered me because I believed in the story. I thought, ‘To hell with status; that’s something people give you.’” Preach, Hrithik! 🙌

Box Office Bonanza!
ZNMD hit theaters in 2011 and wowed critics and audiences alike. It raked in a whopping 90 crore in India and a total of 176 crore worldwide. Directed by the incredibly talented Zoya Akhtar (Farhan’s sis, mind you), it also starred the fabulous Kalki Koechlin and the ever-gorgeous Katrina Kaif.

So what’s the takeaway from this Bollywood drama?

Nisha’s Nutshell:
Sometimes, trusting your gut pays off. Also, ignore the so-called experts who think they know it all. In Bollywood, and in life, taking risks can lead to great adventures—or at least a blockbuster movie! 🎬

Until next time, keep your chai hot and your gossip hotter! 😜
