Ah, the ’90s! A time when Shekhar Kapur, fresh from the success of ‘Mr. India’, decided to transport us through time with his ambitious project ‘Time Machine’. Imagine this: Aamir Khan as an orphan, a time-traveling scientist, and iconic actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Rekha playing his parents! Sounds like a blockbuster, right? Unfortunately, this cinematic experiment got stuck in a time loop of financial troubles and remained incomplete. Kya karein, dosto, kabhi kabhi sapne adhure reh jaate hain! 🤷♀️
A Desi ‘Back to the Future’ That Wasn’t 🎬
1992 was supposed to be the year when Indian cinema would see its own version of ‘Back to the Future’. Shekhar Kapur, with a knack for sci-fi storytelling, attempted to merge Indian narratives with universal themes. Aamir, with his charm, was all set to unravel the past, but alas, fate had other plans. The ensemble cast also featured Raveena Tandon and the legendary Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo composing music that promised to be a time blend of the ’60s and ’90s. Sadly, the film got shelved, and Shekhar ji moved to Hollywood. Bollywood’s loss, Hollywood’s gain! 😢

Fast forward to 2008, whispers of reviving ‘Time Machine’ with fresh faces surfaced but vanished quicker than a magician’s trick. Instead, Bollywood served us ‘Action Replayy’, a film that tried to fill the sci-fi void but fell short of the original dream. Oh, Bollywood! Kab sudhrega tu? 😜
