How Could You Miss That? Tsk Tsk, Really!

Arey bhai, what’s the scene with the Grammys these days? Looks like they’ve got a full-on dhoka moment on their hands! Our very own Adnan Sami has unleashed his inner Bollywood hero, calling them out on social media for a mega blunder. Sit tight, grab your chai, and let me spill the beans!

Picture this: the Grammys, that grand musical extravaganza where the world’s music big shots get their due. Amidst all this glitz and glam, they managed to completely forget about the legendary Tabla maestro, Zakir Hussain, in their memoriam segment. Yes, you read that right! Hussain saab, who left us in December, didn’t get a mention. Adnan Sami, being the firecracker he is, couldn’t keep calm and took to his Instagram stories to give the Grammys some much-needed gyaan.

Adnan shared a nostalgic black-and-white pic of Zakir ji with his beloved Tabla, pouring his heart out about the four-time Grammy winner being overlooked. He wrote, “Dear Grammys, In your ‘Memoriam’, You inexcusably missed mentioning the passing away of the Greatest Tabla Player in the World who was also a 4 Time Grammy Winner – Ustad ZAKIR HUSSAIN from India ……SHAME ON YOU!” Now that’s a proper Bollywood-style dhamaka! 🎤💥

Let’s give you a quick rewind on Zakir Hussain’s Grammy wins. This maestro bagged accolades for Global Music Performance (2024), Contemporary Instrumental Album (2024), Contemporary World Music Album (2009), and a Classical Crossover Album (2010). The 2025 Grammy night on February 3rd even saw Coldplay’s Chris Martin crooning a tribute, but alas, Zakir ji’s name was nowhere in sight. The likes of Liam Payne and Quincy Jones made it to the list, but Zakir sahib was missing. Kya yaar, Grammys?

Zakir Hussain, the legendary percussionist, took his final bow on December 16, 2024, at 73 in San Francisco, battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. His family shared his vision of inspiring future musicians, leaving a legacy as a cultural icon. Truly, an irreplaceable loss for the music world.

Kiran’s Gyan: Bollywood teaches us that in the end, the hero always gets his due. But in the land of the Grammys, they need a little reminder. Maybe it’s time for them to watch a few Bollywood films for some inspiration on giving credit where it’s due. Bole toh, it’s high time they get their act together! 🎬✨
