So, apni Kareena Kapoor Khan, the Begum of Bollywood, has sparked another round of chai-time debates. This time, it’s all about paisa and pay parity! Remember when she demanded a whopping 12 crores for playing Sita? Well, she’s at it again, saying she wants to get paid as much as her Good Newwz co-star, Akshay Kumar. 😲
Now, Kareena and Akshay have quite the filmography together – from Ajnabee to Tashan to Kambakkht Ishq. But it was their 2019 comedy-drama Good Newwz that brought them back into the limelight. With a storyline revolving around two couples and their IVF journey, and with Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani adding to the fun, the film raked in a cool 211 crores!
Flashback to the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2019 – Bebo was asked about her thoughts on pay parity. With her signature sass, she replied, “As far as the paycheck goes, I just want to get paid as much as Akshay Kumar does. That’s all yaa!” 😏
Akki (who was giving her the death stare, mind you) threw her a challenge: “Main Karan Johar ke saath partner hoon in Good Newwz. Let’s make a film where you do the hero’s role, be 50-50 partners with me. Deal?”
Kareena, ever the quick-witted queen, shot back saying she was already the hero in Good Newwz. Akshay, not one to back down, continued, “Don’t backtrack now! Main film banaunga, paisa lagaunga. You be the hero, don’t take a fee. Joh kamayenge, 50-50 baantenge.” 😂
Akshay then called Kareena “smart” and hinted she’d never sign such a deal. Bebo retorted, “I’m not signing any deal because I’m not a hero or a heroine, I’m an artist. So I just want to get what Akshay Kumar gets.” Wah, Bebo! 👏
