Javed Akhtar Critiques Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan for Misguided Feminism: ‘A Woman Claims She’ll Sleep With…’ | Bollywood

Namaste doston! Today, we have a spicy scoop from the Bollywood masala pot, straight from your favorite snoop, Khabree Kiran! Ready to dive into the gyaan about our filmi duniya? Toh chalo shuru karte hain!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Javed Akhtar Takes a Swipe at Yash Chopra’s Feminism

Picture this: Veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, known for his bold statements, recently decided to drop some truth bombs. While chatting on an episode of Be A Man, Yaar!, he took aim at Yash Chopra’s 2012 romantic drama Jab Tak Hai Jaan. And oh boy, did he not hold back! 😏

Javed Akhtar’s Take

Javed sahab, with his signature bluntness, started by dissecting a dialogue from the movie. Here’s the scene: One of the heroines declares, “Mein duniya mein jitni nationalities hein, har nationality ke ek admi ke ladke ke saath sone ke baad shaadi karungi!” (Translation: "I will marry you after I sleep with one man from all the nationalities." 😲)

Javed’s reaction? “Arre bhai, tu itni mehnat kyu karegi? Tu empowered hain? Tu modern hain? Tu cool hain? Tu forward thinking hain? Maan jaate hei na… itni mehnat karne ki zaroorat nahi hain tumko! Bahoot nationalities hain duniya mein us chakkar mein mat paro.” (Translation: "Why would you do so much hard work? You’re empowered, modern, cool, and forward-thinking. We believe you, so you don’t need to go through all that effort. There are a lot of nationalities in the world; don’t get caught up in that.") 😂

What’s the Point?

Javed continued his takedown, questioning, “Ab ye kya hain? Is dialogue ka kya matlab hain? Kahan aa rahi hain? Yash Chopra ki film mein!” (Translation: "What is this? What does this dialogue mean? Why is it in a Yash Chopra film?") According to him, this dialogue was a desperate attempt to portray an empowered woman. He believes filmmakers today are still confused about what a modern Indian woman truly represents.

The Legacy of Jab Tak Hai Jaan

For those who don’t remember, Jab Tak Hai Jaan was Yash Chopra’s swan song, released posthumously in 2012. Starring the ever-charming Shah Rukh Khan, the stunning Katrina Kaif, and the vivacious Anushka Sharma, it was a romantic saga that had Bollywood buzzing. But, as Javed sahab points out, not all that glitters is gold.

Javed Akhtar’s Recent Work

In case you’re wondering what Javed Akhtar has been up to, his last lyrical outing was for the film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. And knowing him, he’s probably working on something as we speak, ready to shake things up once more. ✍️

Kiran’s Gyan: Bollywood Style

Doston, here’s a little gyaan from your favorite Bollywood snoop, Khabree Kiran: In Bollywood, sometimes the idea of ‘modern’ and ’empowered’ can get a bit ‘ulta-pulta’. Filmmakers often try too hard to fit these labels, and the result? Dialogues that make us go, "Arre yaar, yeh kya tha?" So next time you hear something filmy, remember, true empowerment doesn’t need dramatic declarations—just a bit of common sense and a whole lot of heart! ❤️

There you have it, folks! Till next time, stay filmy and keep those popcorns ready. 🍿✨
