Javed Akhtar Spilled the Beans on Convincing Amitabh Bachchan to Jump into Zanjeer Without a Safety Net!

Enter stage left: the dynamic duo, Salim-Javed, with a script that could shake up the industry. They had penned down the intense drama "Zanjeer" and saw something in Bachchan that nobody else did. In a candid chat with IFP, Javed Akhtar recalls, "When I narrated the story to Amitabh, he looked at me as if I had asked him to climb Everest. ‘Do you really think I can pull this off?’ he asked. I told him, ‘Bhai, aap se behtar koi nahi!’"

The rest, as they say, is history. Zanjeer became a massive hit, catapulting Bachchan into the stratosphere of stardom. Salim-Javed even bagged a Filmfare Award for Best Story and Screen Direction. And Amitabh? He went on to become the Shahenshah of Bollywood, delivering classic films like "Abhimaan," "Namak Haraam," and the epic "Sholay."
