Kabir Khan on Corporate Booking Practices

Imagine this, dosto: Kabir Khan, the man behind blockbuster hits like New York, Ek Tha Tiger, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, is not happy with the current Bollywood trend of corporate bookings. Yes, you heard it right! Kabir bhai shared his candid thoughts on this trend in an interview recently.

"Yaar, the industry is playing this number game which is quite unhealthy. During my bachpan, we didn’t care about opening numbers. Seriously, who knows how much Sholay or Deewar made?" Kabir lamented. "It’s like a game now, and if it’s a game, people will play it."

Kabir further explained that trends in Bollywood are as fickle as a filmi villain’s loyalty. "Producers, studios, and distributors might think it’s good for business, but I don’t see any ethical issues here. It’s not harming anyone," he added, nonchalantly.

He went on, "Everyone is throwing around numbers – India nett, gross, worldwide nett, gross – aur kya kya. But trust me, 90% of them don’t even know what these numbers mean. Some are just inflating these figures with corporate bookings. As long as paisa is coming into the system, it’s all good. This phase will pass, and it’s not a biggie."

Meanwhile, Kabir’s latest directorial venture, Chandu Champion, released on June 14, 2024, starring our very own Kartik Aaryan, got rave reviews but had a slow start at the box office. Bollywood ki duniya is unpredictable, yaar!
