Kamal Haasan Spills the Beans: Shah Rukh Khan Worked for Free in My Film Hey Ram

Greetings, my fellow Bollywood aficionados! Your favorite Bollywood Newshound Nisha is back with some juicy tidbits straight from the glittering world of Hindi films. Buckle up for a rollercoaster ride of sarcasm, wit, and a sprinkle of cynicism as we delve into today’s hot gossip.

New Delhi: So, Kamal Haasan, our eternal thespian, just dropped a bombshell at the trailer launch of his much-anticipated flick, Indian 2. And no, it’s not about his secret beauty regimen. Instead, it’s about his "friend" Shah Rukh Khan, who apparently didn’t charge a single paisa for starring in Kamal’s directorial venture Hey Ram back in 2000. I know, right? Talk about working for peanuts… or in this case, zilch!

"Let me speak on behalf of Mr. SRK," Kamal began, with the poise of a man who’s about to spill some major chai. "When we worked together, we were just people. No superstars, no super directors. Just friends," he said. Aww, isn’t that sweet? Almost makes you forget that SRK is the same guy who charges a king’s ransom for his films today. Oh, and did I mention Shah Rukh made Hey Ram for free? Yes, you heard it right—FREE. What a generous soul! Or maybe just really bad at negotiating back then.

Kamal didn’t stop there. He sang more praises for King Khan: "That’s not something a superstar would do. That takes a true fan of cinema, a connoisseur of art, and a good actor." Well, if Shah Rukh ever gets tired of Bollywood, he can always moonlight as a saint.

For those who missed Hey Ram (and honestly, where were you?), the film is a historical drama that stirs the pot with controversial events like the Babri Mosque demolition, India’s Partition, and Gandhi’s assassination. Shah Rukh played Amjad Ali Khan, a buddy of Kamal’s character Saket Ram, whose untimely demise changes Ram’s life forever. Heavy stuff, I know. But hey, it’s cinema—where drama is the name of the game!

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, Kamal also dropped the trailer for Indian 2. Lyca Productions, the production house behind the film, hyped it up on Twitter:

The film, slated for a grand release on July 12, 2024, is a sequel to the 1996 hit Indian. It promises to be a visual treat with Kamal returning as Veerasekaran Senapathy, the vigilante hero. Directed by S Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, Indian 2 will hit screens worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Get your popcorn ready, folks!

Nisha’s Nutshell: In Bollywood, friends work for free, superstars are just "people," and controversial films make the best history lessons. Moral of the story? The only thing more unpredictable than a Bollywood plot is the friendship between its stars. 🍿🎬

Stay tuned for more gossip, drama, and behind-the-scenes shenanigans. Until next time, keep those filmi dreams alive and well!
