Kay Kay Menon Stars in a Throwback Underworld Saga with Tanuj Virwani, But Seriously, Why?

Buckle up, because we’re diving into the murky waters of the Bollywood underworld with Kay Kay Menon leading the charge in the upcoming film, Murshid!

Bollywood aur underworld ka rishta toh jaise doodh aur cheeni ka hai – ek bina doosre ke adhoora! Remember the 90s when every other film was a gangster saga? Well, fast forward to 2024, and we have Murshid, starring none other than Kay Kay Menon and Tanuj Virwani. 🙄

The trailer for Murshid dropped recently, and of course, it’s all eyes on Kay Kay Menon. But yaar, kuch naya lagta hi nahi! Kay Kay as an underworld don? Déjà vu much? Blame it on the overused 90s underworld formula or Menon’s penchant for dark roles, but the trailer feels like a rerun of a movie you’ve watched a zillion times before.

Murshid Pathan, the don who ruled Bombay for two decades, graces our screens with a single striking line: "Don’t be fooled by the wrinkles on my face—I will finish you!" Matlab, koi aur yeh dialogue bolta toh faadu hota, but coming from Kay Kay, it’s like meh. 🤷‍♀️

Aur Tanuj Virwani? Straight outta Splitsvilla, the guy jumps into the crime world as Inspector Kumar Pratap. But wait, which era is this? The 80s? 90s? The trailer is as confusing as a Bollywood plot twist. It could’ve been a blockbuster but seriously lacks the punch to keep us glued. At least the trailer doesn’t impress!

However, yeh ensemble cast zabardast hai, with Kay Kay Menon, Tanuj Virwani, Zakir Hussain, Rajesh Shringarpure, and Anang Desai. Produced by Sandip Patel and Sachin Bansal under the banners of Fathom Pictures and Pramukh Film Production House, this series is written and directed by Shravan Tiwari, with music by Kunal Karan. Ab yeh dekhenge ki aakhir film kitni chali!
