On International Cat Day, the spotlight is on none other than Pratibha Ranta, the 23-year-old starlet from Laapataa Ladies. While the world is busy scrolling through cute cat videos, Pratibha has her own real-life cat tales to share. Meet Theo and Musha, her two adopted furballs who have taken over her life faster than a Bollywood hero chases his heroine. Kya kahani hai, yaar!

Pratibha’s Paw-sitive Experience

People often think cats are moody, right? But our Pratibha has a different kahani to tell. "It’s all about the upbringing," she says, almost like a filmi dialogue. "Show them affection, and they’ll return it. When I cry, they come and sit next to me. That’s their way of saying ‘Don’t worry, mummy, sab theek ho jayega.’"

Bhai, billiyon ka bhi apna swag hota hai.

From Shimla to Mumbai: A Journey with Animals

Pratibha hails from Shimla, where nature and animals were as integral to her life as drama is to Bollywood. "Nature meri life ka important part raha hai," she says, reminiscing about her farm-fresh ghee and the cow back home. But, in the hustle-bustle of Mumbai, pets become more of a luxury than a necessity. "Here, it’s tough to find time for pets. Plus, there’s a whole expense that comes along," she adds. Mumbai waalon, kuch seekho!

A Twist in the Tail: Becoming a Cat Mom

Originally, Pratibha was thinking of adopting a dog. But fate had other plans. Two years ago, her sister found a stray kitten during a costume trial. It was love at first sight for Pratibha. "I didn’t know if I could care for it, but the kitten’s affection was overwhelming. It soon became a part of my life," she recalls. That experience led her to adopt another cat. Wah, kya pyaar hai!

The Naming Saga: Kya Naam Doon?

The naming story of her cats is a Bollywood plot in itself. The first cat, initially named Mushka, had a gender reveal party of sorts when Pratibha discovered it was a boy! Hence, the name changed to Musha, because Mushka sounded too ladylike 😆. The second one is named Theos, meaning ‘God’s gift’. Han bhai, kisi Greek mythology se kam nahi hai.
