Oh Bollywood, tum kab sudhroge? The latest drama in tinsel town has got me rolling my eyes so hard, they might just get stuck. This time, the confusion is surrounding Randeep Hoodaâs much-hyped biopic "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" and its oh-so-dramatic claims about being "officially" submitted to the Oscars. đ
So, picture this: Tuesday morning, the makers of the film go all out on Instagram, announcing that their masterpiece has been submitted for the Oscars, thanking the Film Federation of India (FFI) for their "remarkable appreciation." Arre, wah! The post had everyone and their chachi believing it was Indiaâs official entry for the Academy Awards. Talk about jumping the gun, huh?
Reality check, Bollywood style: The FFI had already announced on Monday that the film "Laapataa Ladies" was Indiaâs official submission to the Oscars this year. So, what in the name of filmy drama is going on? Ravi Kottakara, the FFI President, was practically rolling on the floor laughing when he heard about the claim. He cleared the air, saying, "They (the makers of Savarkar) have given some wrong communication. Only Laapataa Ladies has been sent for Oscars from India officially." Oops, someoneâs PR team needs a reboot!
Anand Pandit, co-producer of the film, stuck to his guns, insisting that the film had indeed been submitted by the FFI. He said, âI didnât know when the film was submitted; I was told about it on Monday. Going to the Oscars is a big milestone. I am, of course, very happy.â Anand bhai, shayad thoda zyada khush ho gaye ho? đ
Hereâs where it gets even juicier. The promotional post on Instagram was a collaborative effort involving actor Ankita Lokhande, co-producer Sandeep Singh, and the production houses behind the film. But guess who was MIA? Randeep Hooda, the director and lead actor, who didnât share a peep on his social media. Kya chal raha hai, bhai?
We tried to get in touch with Hooda, but he was busy playing hide and seek. Meanwhile, a source close to the situation spilled some more beans, calling the whole thing "very shady." They even claimed that a quote attributed to Randeep Hooda was given out in press releases when he hadnât said a word. Matlab, sab kuch ghapla hai!
