Arrey bhaiyon aur behno! Khabree Kiran is here to dish out some gupshup on Bollywood’s latest shenanigans! Ready to dive into the spicy masala of Munjya and its director Aditya Sarpotdar? Let’s roll!
Aditya Sarpotdar on Storytelling and VFX Magic
First things first, let’s talk about the VFX magic Aditya pulled off in Munjya. The guy’s got some serious talent! 🎥 When asked about making the CGI character of Munjya look believable, Aditya says, "Chalo, humne VFX par dhyan diya because it had to look real, yaar! Making the CG character lifelike was no joke, but we nailed it." He adds, "The goal was to make the audience believe the absurdities we threw at them. Imagine a place like Chetukwadi with a possessed goat running amok! We had to make it all look real, na?"
Patriarchy Ki Kahani – Aditya’s Take on Munjya’s Character
When broached about patriarchy and consent in his horror-comedy, Aditya drops some truth bombs. "Genres like horror, comedy, romance—sab labels hain. A good story needs heart and a message. In Munjya, we tackled patriarchy and consent head-on. The uncle in the film? Total patriarchal villain, yaar! Treats women like second-class citizens. Bittu’s battle against this mindset is the crux." He then draws a parallel to a real-life incident in Vasai, where a guy killed a girl for not dating him. "Munjya is everywhere, yaar. These fanatics don’t believe in consent."
Romance Ka Tadka – Unrequited Love in Munjya The movie’s unconventional romance has its own charm. Aditya says, "Life mein, you fall in love, break up, and move on. Sharvari tells Abhay, ‘I might not find someone like you, but I need to explore my life. I’ll always come back.’ That’s real life, my friends. Not the typical Bollywood ‘happily ever after’. The film’s about Bittu finding himself." Breaking Stereotypes – Aditya’s Take on Hindi Cinema Aditya is all about breaking stereotypes, especially when it comes to portraying women. "Why should a girl who is best friends with a guy be seen as using him? Hindi cinema mein, we see so many cliches. A girl and a guy are friends—bas, they must fall in love! Why can’t a girl have her own individuality? Why should liberation only mean a modern lifestyle? Even in smaller towns, girls working for their families are more liberated than you think." Munjya 2 – The Sequel Tease Aditya is already stirring the pot for Munjya 2. "We’re working on Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s vampire-comedy, but Munjya 2 is cooking too! Expect more twists and turns. Sharvari’s end-credit song Taras Me hints at more love drama. Stay tuned, doston!" Dream Collaborations – Ranbir Kapoor and Fahadh Faasil When asked about his dream actors, Aditya gushes, "Ranbir Kapoor and Fahadh Faasil, yaar! Both are phenomenal. Working with Ranbir would be a milestone, and Fahadh—what a talent! Fingers crossed!" Kiran’s Gyan Bollywood ki duniya mein, jab tak drama hai, masala hai, aur kuch hatke hai, tab tak humare dil mein jagah hai! Patriarchy ko goli maaro, aur individuality ko gale lagao!
