Box Office Dhamaka
Bhaiyon aur behno, Kalki 2898 AD has been smashing it at the box office since its release on June 27. On its 13th day, the film raked in a whopping ₹528.16 crore. Haaye re, paisa hi paisa! According to sacnilk.com, the sci-fi extravaganza pulled in around ₹7.71 crore in India on its 13th day. Matlab, ab tak toh film ne malai hi malai kama li hai!
The film started with a bang, earning ₹95.3 crore on its opening day. Week one collection? A jaw-dropping ₹414.85 crore. Sure, the collections dipped a bit on the second weekend, but hey, who’s complaining when the total is over ₹528 crore?
Nag Ashwin: The Man Behind the Madness
Nag Ashwin, our very own director sahab, is finally breathing easy. His magnum opus has crossed ₹500 crore in its first week. Reacting to the success, he said, “A movie like this is beyond us. The ambition was bigger than just us. Many makers were waiting for the result of this sci-fi film. If it didn’t work, it would have closed doors for more years.”
As for the rumors about Mahesh Babu playing Lord Krishna, Ashwin’s playing it coy. “This is how Krishna will be in the film. One of the first things I was very sure was we should have him in the silhouette, there should not be any form. Once you do that, you humanise him in a way. We didn’t want to humanise him.”
About the Film
Nag Ashwin’s ambitious 3D spectacle Kalki 2898 AD is touted as the most expensive film to be produced in India at a reported budget of ₹600 crore. The mythological and sci-fi action drama released globally on June 27 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, and Shobhana among others.
Kiran’s Gyan
Arre, Bollywood ka asli formula kya hai? Throw in a dash of sci-fi, sprinkle some mythology, and top it off with a star filled cast—bas, paisa hi paisa! Lekin yaad rahe, it’s not the budget but the story that’s king. After all, even the biggest stars can’t save a film with a dud script. Toh, dekhte rahiye aur seekhte rahiye!
Till next time, keep the gossip flowing and the popcorn popping!
