Prabhas’s Flick Needs 550 Crore to Break Even, But His Mythological Flop Barely Scraped 4% of Its Budget!

Namaste Bollywood ke deewano! Khabree Kiran is back with some spicy updates on your favorite tinsel town. Grab your popcorn, because things are about to get filmi! 🎬

Kalki 2898 AD: The Mahabharata Mashup

So, Kalki 2898 AD is creating quite the dhamaal at the box office. Despite the mixed reviews, the film’s financial performance is anything but ordinary. Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan have brought in a whopping 280 crore worldwide and 149 crore in India. That’s no chhota mota number!

The film draws its inspiration from the Mahabharata and Vishnu Puran. Imagine this: Ashwatthama, the lone warrior from the Kurukshetra battle, is cursed by Lord Krishna after he offs Arjun’s son. Waiting for the tenth avatar of Vishnu, Ashwatthama’s story takes a futuristic twist in Kalki 2898 AD. Talk about epic meets sci-fi! 🚀

Kalki x Mahabharata: A Bollywood Remix

Bollywood loves a good Mahabharata twist, hai na? Remember Rajneeti or Hum Paanch? Those were basically modern-day Mahabharata tales. But let’s rewind to 1965, when AA Nadiadwala produced Mahabharat, directed by Babubhai Mistry. Starring Pradeep Kumar as Arjuna, Dara Singh as Bhima, and Padmini as Draupadi, this film was a grand affair. Jeevan’s Shakuni was so scheming, it would make your saas-bahu serials look tame!

Mahabharata: Budget & Box Office Blunder

This 1965 Mahabharata had a massive budget for those times—25 crore. But, alas, it was a box office disaster, earning just 1 crore. Imagine spending a fortune and getting peanuts in return! Later, it was demoted to low-quality cassettes and VCDs. Kya zamana tha!

Fast forward to today, Kalki 2898 AD doesn’t seem to be heading down that same disastrous road. With a humongous budget of 600-700 crore, the film needs to pull in at least 500 crore to break even. As of now, it’s already achieved 22% of its budget. Not too shabby, huh? If this pace continues, Kalki may just set a new benchmark for mythological adaptations. Maybe this is the Mahabharata we needed all along, and Kalki’s success could inspire filmmakers to dive into more mytho-universes. đŸ’Ș

Kiran’s Gyan: In Bollywood, it’s not just about kaun banega crorepati, but kaun banayega crore ka paisa! With Kalki 2898 AD’s ambitious budget and its strong start, it seems like the film industry is ready to gamble big on mythological epics. Bas, let’s hope they don’t end up like the 1965 Mahabharata—burning a hole in their pockets! 💾
