Pratibha Ranta on Laapataa Ladies’ Oscar Journey: The Film’s Buzz is Worldwide, Including India

Pratibha Ranta, our very own desi girl, is jumping with joy as her film "Laapataa Ladies" is all set to wave the Indian flag at the Oscars 2025! First things first, Pratibha’s excitement is totally through the roof! She says, “Our film’s emotions will hit even harder now that it’s heading to the Oscars.” Well, Pratibha darling, who knew Bollywood’s tears and drama would get a global stage? 😜

And the celebration toh kuch zyada hi chal rahi hai! The girl can’t catch a break, she says, “Ever since Laapataa Ladies released, it’s been one celebration after another. It’s just a beautiful feeling every time.” Acha, yeh toh hum sab ko bhi pata hai, but tell us more, na!

When asked about the film’s slow box office start and its eventual streaming success, Pratibha is quick to respond: “India mein bhi jab yeh film release hui thi, sab logon ne realise kar liya tha that we have a good film. National level pe bhi recognition mil gayi.” Wah bhai, streaming platforms ne toh life hi badal di!

She goes on to admit, “My life changed completely. Pehle auditions ke liye bhatakna padta tha, ab toh alag level ka scene hai. National Award bhi milta, tab bhi khush hoti. National validation bhi acchi mil rahi hai.” Dekha, yeh hoti hai asli struggle story!

Despite everything falling into place eventually, Pratibha reflects on her unusual debut, “As an outsider, you don’t get to pick and choose much. I was just lucky to land a film backed by Aamir Khan’s production house. I kept following up after my audition, har chaar din mein call karti thi. I knew the role was challenging but that’s what made it exciting.” Kya baat hai, yeh hoti hai dedication!
