Rajkummar Rao Spills the Beans on Scoring LSD and His Whopping 11k Paycheck for the Movie

Grab your popcorn, darlings! Bollywood Newshound Nisha is here to spill some piping hot tea about our beloved Rajkummar Rao and his journey from anonymity to stardom.

Rajkummar Rao’s Debut Film Fees:

Our boy Rajkummar Rao is riding high on the success of his latest release, Stree 2. This horror-comedy is not just tickling funny bones but also breaking box office records left, right, and center. In just 9 days, it’s raked in over ₹300 crores domestically and is zooming towards the ₹500 crore mark worldwide. Amidst all this hoopla, Rajkummar recently opened up about his early days and the hustle he endured to make it big in Bollywood.

How Rajkummar Landed LSD:

In a heart-to-heart on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Rajkummar spilled the beans on how he bagged Dibakar Banerjee’s crime drama LSD. Picture this: Rajkummar, fresh-faced and hopeful, walks into the director’s office after spotting an ad for the film. He’s then directed to meet the casting director, Atul Mongia. After numerous back-and-forths of sending his photos, our guy finally gets a chance to audition. But, oh, the drama! Rajkummar shows up in some rather peculiar attire (thanks to the audition details), and someone even comments on his fashion faux pas. Convinced he had blown his shot, Rajkummar was ready to throw in the towel.

But hold your horses! A few days post-audition, the phone rings. "Dibakar liked your audition, but you need to lose some weight from your face," said the voice on the other end. Determined, Rajkummar hit the ground running, literally! In a week, he shed the pounds and returned for the second and third rounds. Finally, the call he had been waiting for: "Congratulations, you’re the lead in Dibakar’s next film."

The Fee for His Debut Film?

Here’s where it gets juicy, folks. Rajkummar revealed that he didn’t exactly strike gold with his debut. For all the blood, sweat, and tears, he got a whopping ₹11,000. Yes, you read that right. But, ever the optimist, Rajkummar said, "Thank God, I got a start. It wasn’t about the money; it was about the work."

Rajkummar’s Professional Front:

Fast forward to 2024, and Rajkummar has become a powerhouse in the industry. This year alone, he’s given us three gems: Shrikant, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, and Stree 2, with the latter smashing box office records. At 39, Rajkummar isn’t slowing down; he’s got Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Bhool Chuk Maaf lined up.

Nisha’s Nutshell:

In the world of Bollywood, it doesn’t matter how you start but how you hustle. Rajkummar Rao’s journey from ₹11,000 to box office kingpin proves just that. Moral of the story? If life gives you a ₹11,000 paycheck, run like Rajkummar!

That’s all for now, my filmy folks. Stay tuned for more juicy tidbits from your favorite Bollywood snoop, Nisha! ✨
