Reese Witherspoon’s Hilarious Take on Nicole Kidman at AFI Gala Has Everyone in Stitches

Oh, darlings, sit back and brace yourselves! Bollywood Newshound Nisha here, ready to spill some tea with a dash of sass and a sprinkle of sarcasm. Grab your popcorn, because this one’s a doozy.

Reese Witherspoon Channels Nicole Kidman: A Masterclass in Mimicry

Picture this: Reese Witherspoon, the queen of all things bubbly and blonde, decided to give us a sneak peek into her impersonation skills. And who was her lucky target? None other than her Big Little Lies partner-in-crime, Nicole Kidman. Oh yes, ladies and gents, Reese nailed that Aussie accent so flawlessly that even a kangaroo would be impressed!

TNT Drama dropped a teaser on June 14 for the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala honoring our beloved Nicole. And guess what? It went viral faster than you can say "G’day, mate!"

Reese, in her ever-so-charming way, praised Nicole’s knack for picking directors like she’s selecting avocados at a farmer’s market. "She’ll often mention these obscure foreign films, and I’m like, ‘Wait, what? Did you just make that up, Nicole?’" Reese quipped, mimicking Nicole’s accent so perfectly, you could swear she was born down under. The camera caught Nicole laughing so hard she had to hide her face, while husband Keith Urban looked like he was enjoying a private comedy show.

Kidman’s Night of Glory: Tributes Galore

The AFI Life Achievement Award Gala was basically a Nicole Kidman lovefest. Her Big Little Lies squad, Reese and Meryl Streep, handed her the prestigious award, because, of course, they did. Naomi Watts and Morgan Freeman, her Lioness co-stars, also chimed in with their own tributes. It was like an all-you-can-eat buffet of compliments.

And let’s not forget Zac Efron and Joey King, who are starring alongside Nicole in the upcoming Netflix flick A Family Affair. They had their own moments of humility, praising the Expats actress. Cynthia Erivo and fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman were also in attendance, adding to the glittering guest list.

In her acceptance speech, Nicole went all heartfelt, thanking the film industry for letting her "run wild and be free and play all of these unconventional women." Aww, Nicole, we love you for your wild and free spirit, too! The event took place on April 27, 2024, but mark your calendars, because it airs on June 17 on TNT.

Nisha’s Nutshell
