So, our latest hot topic is the debut OTT series of the grandeur-loving maestro, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar." Now, if you’ve been keeping up, you know that this series has been creating as many waves as an elephant in a kiddie pool. 🐘💦 Its lavish depiction and cinematography have had viewers hooked, but let’s not forget, every rose has its thorns, and in this case, it’s the criticism faced by Sharmin Segal.
Oh, did I mention that she’s SLB’s niece? Well, that little nugget has earned her the not-so-coveted title of a "nepo kid." Poor gal! 😒 But hold on, here comes Richa Chadha, riding in like a knight in shining armour (or in this case, a saree) to defend her Heeramandi co-star. 🛡️👏
Posting on her Instagram (because where else would you air your grievances in this digital age?), Richa took a stand against the onslaught of negativity. And boy, was it a doozy! Sharing a screenshot of a rather distasteful comment about Sharmin’s portrayal of Alamzeb, Richa wrote, “Guys? Offer constructive criticism, but this much visceral hate? It’s one thing to reject someone’s performance, theek hai! Mat karo pasand, aapka haq hai.” Now that’s a classy clapback if I’ve ever seen one! 👏👏
And she didn’t stop there. Richa continued, “Par aise chatkare le ke troll to mat karo? Please? Out of context interview clips (that too from a legit roast, y’all are using). Why? I think we can all do better than that, be better than that. Be kind. Please. It can affect someone’s mental health. A big election just happened, there’s a heat wave on, there’s so much going on in the world! Please move on.” Talk about hitting the nail on the head! 🎯
Sharmin, too, had her say on the matter. In a recent interview, she stated that there are plenty of people who loved her performance. Her focus? The positivity. That’s the spirit, Sharmin! 🌈
