Arre bhai, kuch purani filmein bhi hain jo aaj bhi dil ko choo leti hain! One such gem is Swades, and guess what, it’s making a grand re-entry!

Ronnie Screwvala, the brains behind RSVP Movies, has finally confirmed the re-release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades – We The People from 2004. After the hype surrounding the re-release of Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar and Hrithik Roshan’s Lakshya, Ronnie bhai was cornered and grilled about bringing Swades back to the current generation. In an interview with Hindi Movie News, the producer spilled the beans, calling Swades “ahead of its time” and deserving of a “second time around.”

Swades: Phir se naye rang mein

Ronnie bhai, while sipping his chai, elaborated, “It could re-release for sure. I keep telling everyone that it was a film way ahead of its time. Therefore, it needs its second time around.” He went on to describe Swades as an “evergreen story” that “inspired a lot of people.” And why not? After all, he even renamed his foundation to Swades Foundation post the film’s release. 💡

Shah Rukh Khan, our very own King Khan, plays a NASA scientist who returns to his gaon to literally light up lives. Ronnie adds, “Youngsters today resonate with it. You might go abroad for studies, but eventually, you want to return to your desh. The film captures that spirit and mood of the nation, making it super relevant even today.”

A Quick Recap of Swades

Swades narrates the journey of Mohan Bhargav, an Indian-origin NASA scientist who returns to his village to meet his nanny, Kaveri Amma. His trip turns into a soul-searching mission as he confronts India’s socio-economic challenges, deciding to stay back and implement a micro hydroelectric project to light up the village. Talk about a powerhouse performance! The film, also starring Gayatri Joshi, Kishori Ballal, Rajesh Vivek, and others, bagged accolades like the National Film Award for Best Cinematography and Best Male Playback Singer for the song Yeh Taara Woh Taara.

Kiran’s Gyan

Arre bhai, Bollywood mein dekha jaaye toh, purani yaadein aur filmon ka re-release ek naya trend ban gaya hai. Lekin, ek baat yaad rakho – as long as the story touches your heart, it doesn’t matter how old the film is. Swades is one such gem, proving that classic tales of desh-bhakti never go out of style! And remember, sometimes old wine in a new bottle tastes even better!
