Sanya Malhotra Shines in This Gripping Tale of Ambition vs. Patriarchy | Bollywood 🎬

Arre, Raja Betas, beware! The ‘Mrs.’ is here to shake things up! Some movies are like a dreamy escape, while others, like this one, hold up a mirror and make us squirm in our seats. And that’s where the magic lies! Starring the fabulous Sanya Malhotra, this flick is all about giving a tight slap to patriarchy while chasing ambitions!

Picture this: A Bollywood adaptation of the much-acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, but with a tadka of Hindi masala! You might think it’s a pan-Indian film, but hold your horses—it’s not about the budget or star power. It’s about how the story hits home, making it relatable to us desi folks.

The Whiff of the Kitchen

Meet Richa (played by the oh-so-talented Sanya), a free-spirited dancer who’s just tied the knot with Diwakar Kumar (Nishant Dahiya), a gynaecologist following daddy dearest’s footsteps. But wait, the plot thickens! Richa soon realizes she’s landed in a patriarchal household where a woman’s round-the-clock household chores aren’t considered as "hard work" as a man’s 9-to-5. Her journey from being a vibrant dancer to the "perfect bahu" is where things get spicy!

The movie chronicles Richa’s life post-marriage. Her hubby, sweet as he is, insists she become like his mom, who’s practically a kitchen robot now. One memorable scene? Richa, exhausted after a day in the kitchen, isn’t in the mood for some nighttime action. Yet Diwakar, with a smirk, declares, "You smell like the kitchen, the sexiest smell in the world!" 🤦‍♀️

Hats off to writers Harman Baweja (yep, the actor!) and Anu Singh Choudhary, along with director Aarti Kadav, for crafting some killer one-liners that trace Diwakar’s character arc. Richa eventually stands up against the one-sided satisfaction game, only for Diwakar to label her as undesirable because she "smells like the kitchen." Irony alert: A doctor specializing in female health who’s clueless about his own wife’s needs!

Performance Ki Bhatti

Sanya nails it, making us feel every bit of Richa’s turmoil. A true actor, hain na? From the jitters of managing the household alone to the downfall of a talented dancer turned shikanji order-taker, Sanya captures it all!

Director Aarti keeps it subtle yet impactful, ensuring every scene fits perfectly into place. Nishant shines as the chauvinistic husband, while Kanwaljit Singh is spot-on as the controlling father-in-law. And let’s not forget Aparna Ghoshal, who plays the overworked mother-in-law, Meena, with finesse.

Overall, Mrs. is a film that’s shot beautifully, with a strong message and impeccable execution. It’s loaded with food for thought (pun intended). Makes you wonder how you function in your own ghar, hai na?

Kiran’s Gyan

Bollywood lesson of the day: Life isn’t a K3G set where everyone dances around in chiffon saris. Sometimes, it’s more like a pressure cooker—lots of heat and a whistle waiting to blow! So, my dear Raja Betas, take note: The kitchen may smell of spices, but it’s not a substitute for romance! 💁‍♀️
