Sona, our Dabangg girl, gave us a little gyaan on her take about interfaith marriages. She said, “Absolutely! I think it will be beautiful. But genuinely, we’re not that very different from each other. Our core values are the same. Basically, our parents have taught us to be good human beings and believe in God, irrespective of whatever name you know him by. The most important thing in life is to be a good person kind of values we have imbibed – that’s the kind of values we have imbibed.”
Zaheer Iqbal: Taking Cues from Salim Khan
Zaheer, on the other hand, shared a nugget of wisdom from Salim uncle (Salman Khan’s father, duh!). He said Salim uncle once told him that when he married Salma aunty, he assured her parents that religion would never be an issue. Zaheer added, “I could have 50,000 disagreements with Sona, but ‘it will never have anything to do with religion’.” Wah bhai, kya baat hai! 👏
Seven Years of Blissful Dating
Reflecting on their seven-year-long relationship, Sonakshi said, “In the seven years that we were dating, the fact that we are from different faiths has never come up in a discussion. We both respect other religions. It’s never been an issue for us or even a discussion.” She also added that the only noise about their interfaith wedding comes from outside. Drama, drama everywhere!

Let’s rewind a bit. Sonakshi and Zaheer started dating on June 23, 2017, and after seven years of romance, they tied the knot on the same date. Isn’t that filmi? They both worked together in the movie Double XL, co-produced by Huma Qureshi. Zaheer, who is the son of businessman Iqbal Ratansi and a close buddy of Salman Khan, made his debut in Salman-backed Notebook alongside Pranutan Bahl.
And Sona’s recent flick? She was seen in Aditya Sarpotdar’s horror-comedy Kakuda.
