Swapping Stars: From Saif Ali Khan in Race 3 to Akshay Kumar in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Ahoy, Bollywood buffs! It’s your favorite filmy detective, Khabree Kiran, back with another juicy update from the glitzy world of Hindi cinema. Today, we’re diving into the curious case of actors being swapped out in sequels of their blockbuster hits. Buckle up, kyunki yeh Bollywood hai, yahan kuch bhi ho sakta hai! 😜

Let’s start with our nawab, Saif Ali Khan. Remember the shockwaves when he was replaced by Bhai Salman in Race 3 (2018)? 😲 The man led the first two films, with Race 2 (2013) being his career-high at that time. Producer Ramesh S. Taurani spilled the chai, revealing that Saif was pretty miffed about the swap. Taurani called it a "business decision" since Saif’s movies weren’t exactly minting money at the box office. Ouch! 🤑

Moving on to the Khiladi, Akshay Kumar. His iconic performance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) made the movie unforgettable. But, in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), Akshay was replaced by the chocolate boy Kartik Aaryan. Writer Aakash Kaushik justified it, saying the story needed a younger actor. Akshay was also swapped out in Welcome Back (2015) by John Abraham. But hold your breath, Akki fans, he’s making a comeback in Welcome to the Jungle, the third film in the series! 🎬

Next up, Abhishek Bachchan. He and Rani Mukerji were a laugh riot in Bunty Aur Babli (2005). While Rani returned for Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021), Abhishek was replaced by none other than Saif Ali Khan. Rumor has it, Abhishek had a fallout with producer Aditya Chopra on the sets of Dhoom 3 (2013). So, bye-bye Bunty, hello Saif! 😏

And then we have Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was the heart and soul of Dream Girl (2019) alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. But lo and behold, she was replaced by Ananya Panday in Dream Girl 2 (2023). Nushrratt confessed she was hurt and disappointed. Ayushmann, on the other hand, felt Ananya was the right fit. Kaun jaane, Bollywood ke secrets! 😬

Oh, and let’s not forget Sharman Joshi, who stole hearts as Laxman Prasad Sharma in Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006). But in the sequel, Golmaal Returns (2008), he was replaced by Shreyas Talpade due to date issues. Sharman still hopes to be cast in Golmaal 5. Bas dekhte raho, maybe his dream will come true! 🌟

Last but not least, Arshad Warsi. His portrayal of Advocate Jolly in Jolly LLB (2013) was epic. But in Jolly LLB 2 (2017), he was replaced by Akshay Kumar. Fans were heartbroken but the film was a hit. The good news? Jolly LLB 3 will feature both Akshay and Arshad. Now that’s a jodi worth waiting for! 😍
