So, Tanishaa Mukerji, that’s Kajol’s little sis and Tanuja’s kid, has been spilling the tea about rising film production costs. Can you believe it? Our stars’ love for vanity vans and personal cooks is causing a dent in producers’ pockets. And dear Tanishaa, who graced the silver screen in Luv You Shankar, is not too pleased about it. She’s got her claws out for the big daddies of Bollywood production houses. 🙀
She gave the lowdown to IndianExpress.com – imagine, a producer approaches an actor with a ₹5 crore deal for a film. But then, out of nowhere, a corporate production house swoops in, promising ₹30 crores for just 30 days of work! How’s a solo producer supposed to compete with that, huh? 🤷♀️
Our lady Mukerji thinks it’s high time actors ease off on the pressure they put on independent producers. She’s not here for the whole ‘actors ke nakhre hai’ schtick. It’s not fair, she says, to complain about an actor’s demands without considering the time they’re spending on set. She even had a go at producers, pointing out that not every actor is a 9-5 type like Akshay Kumar, who clocks out and heads to the gym. Are you willing to pull 14-hour days, she asks? How about an 18-hour shift? Think about that before complaining about actors’ so-called tantrums. 💅
The starlet also touched on the age-old tradition of stars throwing tantrums. Apparently, the bigger the tantrum, the bigger the star – or so some people believe. If you’re a low-budget, independent producer, Tanishaa advises you to have a heart-to-heart with your star. Chances are, they’ll be understanding. But if you’re a big corporate house, well, you better be ready to meet some demands. 💰
Interestingly, Tanishaa also has a bone to pick with us, the audience. She blames us for accepting subpar content over the years, leading to recent film failures. With the rise of OTT platforms, people are turning their backs on theatres – even the good films are being ignored. So, whose fault is that? 🎬
