Tanya Maniktala, our girl-next-door who’s been winning hearts left, right, and center, recently spilled the beans about her unforgettable first meeting with Vijay Sethupathi. While talking to Zoom (yes, Zoom because who else is worth talking to?), Tanya couldn’t hold back her excitement.
She reminisced, “I remember the first day, Vijay Sir came on set when I was shooting. It was a night shift, and we were outdoors. Suddenly, a swarm of people appeared out of nowhere like magic. Santosh Sir (our director) called me over to introduce me to someone. The air was buzzing, and then there he was—Vijay Sethupathi, in the flesh, flashing that brilliant smile of his. I was starstruck!”
And as if that wasn’t enough, our girl admitted to getting literal goosebumps. “His humility, his charm, his simplicity—it was all too much! And then, in a snap, he switched into action mode. It was like watching a movie scene unfold in real time. He’s a master of his craft, and to witness that in person was exhilarating. That’s the kind of vision you aspire for yourself.”
Mumbaikar: Starry Spectacle
In the movie Mumbaikar, Tanya played the role of Ishita. Directed by Santosh Sivan, this 2023 release saw Tanya sharing screen space with not just Vijay Sethupathi, but also Vikrant Massey and Hridhu Haroon. Talk about being in esteemed company! 😎
Reflecting on her experience, Tanya said, “Working with Santosh Sivan sir, Vijay Sethupathi, Vikrant Massey, and Sanjay Mishra sir felt like a pinch-me moment. I’ve admired their work for so long, and to now be working with them… it was surreal!”
