Unraveling the Reason Sharmin Segal Opted Out of Assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Ram-Leela

Hey there, Bollywood buffs! Your favorite Bollywood sleuth, the ever-so-snarky, the ever-so-sarky, the queen of quirk, and the ultimate Bollywood Newshound Nisha is back in action! Armed with my deliciously twisted sense of humor and a sharp eye for all things filmy, here’s the latest scoop from the dream factory we call Bollywood! 🕵️‍♀️💁‍♀️🍿

Brace yourselves, folks! It’s time to dive into the glitzy and glamourous world of Hindi cinema, and our star of the hour is none other than the ravishing Sharmin Segal! 🌟🎥

Now don’t get it twisted! Contrary to what your neighbor’s aunt’s cousin’s friend told you, the stunning Sharmin didn’t work as an assistant director for her uncle, the legendary Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in the epic ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’. She spilled the beans in a recent chat with News18 Showsha, revealing that she chose to assist on Mary Kom instead. Why, you ask? Well, darling Sharmin thought she wasn’t quite ready to work with the maestro himself just yet. She confessed, "I could’ve worked in Ram-Leela, but I felt like I didn’t deserve that chance of assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali at that point. I was completely new and I knew nothing about filmmaking." 🎬🤷‍♀️

So, the budding starlet decided to watch and learn from the back benches while at the sets of Mary Kom. Can’t blame her, can we? I mean, who wouldn’t want to learn the ropes before stepping into the ring with the big guns? 🥊🎭

Here’s a fun fact for you! Mary Kom, the 2014 blockbuster starring our very own global icon Priyanka Chopra, was a joint venture of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom18 Motion Pictures. And guess who was there, learning the tricks of the trade? Yup, it’s our girl Sharmin! 🙋‍♀️

Sharmin also let us in on her journey from Mary Kom to Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani. She shared, "The first film I assisted him on was Bajirao Mastani but the first film I ever assisted was on Mary Kom. And while I was working on Mary Kom, he was shooting for Ram-Leela." Talk about being at the right place at the right time, eh? 🧐💫

Now here’s where it gets interesting. Sharmin acknowledged that working with her uncle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a "privilege". After all, you don’t just wake up one day and announce you’re ready to work with Bollywood royalty! You’ve got to earn your stripes, right? And boy, did she earn them! From Mary Kom to Heeramandi, Sharmin has come a long way!

In Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Sharmin shared screen space with some of the biggest names in Bollywood – Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Richa Chadha. Now that’s what I call a star-studded cast! 🎉🎬

Nisha’s Nutshell: Bollywood is a lot like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re gonna get. Some get a sweet start, others a bitter one, but in the end, it’s all about the taste of success. Sharmin Segal’s journey is a testament to this! From being a backstage observer to sharing the screen with Bollywood biggies, she has proved that slow and steady does win the race! And the moral of the story? Well, sometimes you’ve got to start from the back to make it to the front! 😜🏁

Until next time, keep those popcorns popping and stay tuned to Nisha’s spicy Bollywood updates! Tata! 💃🎉
