Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri’s Movie Hits Over Rs 35 Crore

New Delhi: Bad Newz has been ringing in good news at the box office, crossing the ₹35 crore mark on its second Tuesday. Directed by Anand Tiwari, this romantic comedy raked in ₹3.75 crore on day 5, according to the ever-reliable Sacnilk report. The film’s total earnings now stand at ₹36.95 crore.

For those who’ve been living under a rock, Bad Newz stars Vicky Kaushal as Akhil Chadha, Triptii Dimri as Saloni Bagga, and Ammy Virk as Gurbir Singh Pannu. The plot revolves around a love triangle (because what else?), with Triptii’s character finding herself in the most Bollywood of predicaments: pregnant and unsure who the daddy is. Spoiler alert: both Vicky and Ammy turn out to be the fathers. Yeah, you heard that right. 🤯 Add in some spicy guest appearances by Ananya Panday, Neha Sharma, and Gajraj Rao, and you’ve got yourself a full masala package.

Now, our go-to trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, took to X (formerly known as Twitter because apparently even social media platforms need a makeover) to share the day 4 box office collection. He noted, "Bad Newz is decent on the crucial make-or-break Monday… Multiplexes of major centres continue to attract footfalls, but mass pockets, on the other hand, remain lackluster. Going forward, Bad Newz will need to maintain Monday’s levels over the remaining weekdays… The #Buy1Get1 [#BOGO] free ticket offer could prove advantageous."

Listing the figures, Taran added, “[Week 1] Fri 8.62 cr, Sat 10.55 cr, Sun 11.45 cr, Mon 3.75 cr. Total: ₹ 34.37 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.”

But hold your applause, folks. According to Saibal Chatterjee’s review for Hindi Movie News (can we even mention them? 🤔), the film is a bit of a letdown. He gave Bad Newz a measly 2 out of 5 stars and described it as “more frizzle than sizzle.” Ouch! Directed by Anand Tiwari and written by Ishita Moitra and Tarun Dudeja, the movie was branded a "still-born comedy about a pair of dads and a mom with twins in her womb as a result of being impregnated twice in the same ovulation cycle.” Double ouch!

Let’s not forget the rest of the ensemble cast featuring Neha Dhupia, Sheeba Chaddha, and Faisal Rashid. The film was jointly produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari. That’s a lot of cooks in the kitchen, but hey, who’s counting?
