Vicky Kaushal ki latest romantic comedy Bad Newz was enjoying its solo release ka maza, but ab ek naya contender has entered the scene. According to Sacnilk, after wrapping up its opening week with a decent ₹42.85 crore, the film managed to scoop up another ₹2.15 crore on its second Friday. Bas thodi si drop from the previous day’s ₹2.75 crore. So, the total collection ab tak? A solid ₹45 crore at the domestic box office. 👏
Competition from Deadpool & Wolverine
While it seems that Bad Newz is still holding its ground against the Hollywood heavyweights, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has a different kahani. He claims that the entry of Deadpool and Wolverine has indeed impacted Bad Newz. Lekin chinta mat karo, weekend pe collections badhne ka pura chance hai. Adarsh predicts that the film should hit the ₹50 crore mark by the weekend.
Released on July 19 and directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz has already garnered ₹78.30 crore globally. Dharma Productions ne apne X handle pe is baat ka update diya with a poster reading, "A Worldwide Entertainer! 78.30 crore in 1 week." Caption mein tha, "Breaking Newz: ‘#BadNewz’ is taking over the globe with its dhamakedaar entertainment!" 🎉
Plot Twists and Turns
The film’s plot is as quirky as it gets. Triptii’s character, Saloni Bagga, suffers from heteropaternal superfecundation – a fancy term for having twins from different biological fathers. Vicky and Ammy, playing Akhil Chadha and Gurbir Singh, are in a hilarious tug of war to prove who’s the better dad and the most deserving to win Saloni’s heart. Produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, Apoorva Mehta, and Karan Johar, the film also features Neha Dhupia in a pivotal role.
